Dear friends,

It is a tragedy for a family, a husband mourning the loss of his wife and a little son who is yearning for a mother's love. Ms. Xiaoying Wu, a Chinese student who was studying and working hard to lead a better life died unfairly in a shoot out in Columbus, OH on Nov. 18th, 1999.

The funeral was held in a local funeral house on Nov. 27th. About 200 people showed up to express their condolence and sympathy to the family and their concern to this case. In the memorial, people learned that almost everyone who got to know Ms. Wu benefited from her kindness.

She was a good wife, a wonderful mom and a good friend who was always willing to help. Suddenly, an evil bullet took her away from her beloved husband, son and friends. People could not stop asking: WHY has it got to be her?

The tragedy shocked the local Chinese community and caring Chinese all over the world. As nonimmigrant, we study or work hard to contribute to the society of constant need of intellectual support; in return we deserve a safe environment to stay. We hope and demand the judiciary system to serve us justice.

If you would like to contribute towards this unfortunate family with kind donations, please make the check payable to "Wu Xiaoying Fund" and send it to CSSS-OSU, P.O.Box 3599, Columbus, OH43210.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 29 in Franklin County Common Pleas Court. We will keep you posted with the latest news.
